West University Elementary School Foundation, Inc.

Our Mission

Created in 1997, the Foundation operates as a 501(c)(3) endowment fund for the long-term benefit of West University Elementary School with the mission “to raise community awareness, encourage participation from the community, and increase the long-term financial support of our school, thereby helping it continue to be one of the finest elementary schools in Texas.”

Your Foundation In Action

For the 2004-2005 school year, the Foundation funded a grant for a robotics lab. Mr. Connolly conducted a lab after school to introduce the students to the science of robotics. Their hard work and imagination was rewarded with a 2 nd and third place finish in the HISD robotics competition. The foundation will be making another grant to this program in 2005-06.

We set an ambitious goal in 2004. We wanted to make a meaningful contribution to the Campus Enhancement project as well as continue to fund grants for our teachers. Through the generosity of many of our parents and others in our community we met this goal. We will make a substantial contribution to the renovation of our school as well as participate in the funding of the new covered pavilion. In addition, we will fund three additional grants to purchase two Interactive White Boards with Digital Microscopy to be used in 4th and 5 th grade. These boards add another exciting level to our children’s learning experience.

How Can You Help?

The trustees of this foundation will seek your financial support. Later in the fall, we will communicate our goals for the 2005-2006 school year and we will ask for your help. We will follow-up in the spring to let you know how we are progressing and whether or not more assistance is needed.

Thank you for your generous support in the past and we look forward to working with you in the future.

Respectfully,

Your West University Elementary School Foundation Trustees
