WUES Name that Book Teams
CONGRATS TO THE K-2 TEAM FOR WINNING FIRST PLACE in the 2011 competition!!!
We are excited to announce that West University Elementary will enter the HISD Name That Book Contest with two teams of readers for the 2011-2012 school year. Name That Book is a reading contest sponsored by HISD that challenges kids to read a list of books and compete against other schools to test their knowledge of those books. West U has some awesome student readers.
The NTB Contests occur in the Spring. The Librarian and parent volunteers will sponsor a book club for the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders in order to get ready for the competition. The club members will read several of the books from the list each week and then discuss them at the Book Club meeting. The West U NTB Competition Team of 6 students and two alternate will be chosen in the Spring.
The K-2nd grade team will be chosen in January and will start meeting after that date weekly on Mondays.
There will be a team of K through 2nd graders and a team of 3rd through 5th graders. K – 2nd team members must read a list 30 books and 3rd through 5th team members must read a list of 35 books (including all 20 Bluebonnet books). The 2011-2012 book lists are set out below.
